BreakOut: Surging for Gold 18/08/07

What an exciting time we had during our last BreakOut. Really getting out of our shells, we headed to Sentosa for a full packed day of planned games, fun and fellowship. We met at Harbour Front MRT at 12:15 [earlier so we could have more time to play] and took the Sentosa rail into the island.
Palawan beach was the location that we were going to create havok and basically let our hair down for that afternoon. It was really God's grace coz that day, the storm was brewing and the weather really looked threatening. We prayed and asked God to hold the rain and He did just that, it didn't rain for the whole YF activity! Praise the Lord!
Anyhows, the activity started off with Worship at the beach. Reflecting on the change of surroundings, it was great to be able to sing about His promises and praise while in the midsts of the wonderful environment. After a good time of singing, we carried on with Games that consisted of Castlemaking, Waterbombing, Charades in the water and Dog and Bone.
After all the games were completed, we had free time to do anything we wanted on the beach whether it be swimming or playing with the sand, it was a great time to just relax and enjoy the weather and beach.
On leaving the island, the majority of us then went to buy our own dinner, take away and meet at an open area at Vivo city. We had our packed dinners together and shared jokes and laughter over endless conversation. We ended up playing some games too which were not only entertaining but really fun and confusing. The day ended off on a real nice note as everyone [i'm sure] enjoyed themselves. Hope to see more and more people and fun at other BreakOuts and YF activities!

Prayer Meeting [11th Aug] Devotion to God
Tuesday, August 14, 2007
May Psalm 63 and the lyrics of this song “Come Home Running” that we learnt on Saturday cause us to reflect on the challenge that was posed to us on the last Prayer Meeting:
Are YOU following hard after GOD TODAY?
Desiring God…Oh heart of mine, why must you stray?
From One so fair, you run away,
And one more time, you have to pay
The heaviness of needless shame
Oh heart of mine, come back home
You’ve been to long, out on your own
And He’s been there all along
Watching for you down the road
We can acknowledge God as OUR God because we have a personal relationship with Him. By doing so, we recognize His authority in our lives and He will restore us. Yes! We CAN express our thirst for GOD, He Hears!
Exaltation of God (Praising God)… Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Psalm 63:3-6We can only respond with praise for His goodness in our lives. We will come to bless God the way we live our lives – the same earnestness and praise that come from our lips must characterize our lives.
Joyful Dependence…So come home running
His arms are open wide
His name is Jesus
He understands
He is the answer
That you are looking for
So come home running
Just as you are.
Jesus understands and He is the answer. We can just go back to Him “as we are”. He’ll accept us no matter where we are or what we are like.
Oh child of God so dearly loved
And ransomed by the Saviour’s blood
And called by name “daughter” and “son”
Wrapped in the robe of righteousness
“My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me”Psalm 63:8
Just as a child to his/her parent, we are to follow “hard” after God: YOURS and MINE Heavenly Father which is a desire(want/longing)
-to continue communion with God-
a two way conversation,
-to walk in His precepts-
because He knows us better than anyone else (even ourselves) and He knows what is best for us.
Finally it all adds up to living a life praising and pleasing to God.
